Installation Instructions

Multi-user Network Installation Instructions

Installing PartBase PRO on your network should be done by your network administrator.

Microsoft Windows network - There are two parts in installing in Windows network.

Server Installation - First, you will install PartBase on your server or computer that will be sharing the PartBase files.

Setup Workstation
-  Next, you will install the necessary files on the workstations that will be accessing the server. If your PartBase installation CD is for version 1.0.011 or less, see Workstation Installation

Novell Netware - Since Novell uses a dedicated file server, you must first run a Server Installation from a workstion to install the files to the server. Then setup the rest of the computers as workstations.

Server Installation - First,  install PartBase to your server from a workstation

Setup Workstation
-  Next, Install the necessary files and icons on the workstations that will be accessing the server. If your PartBase installation CD is for version 1.0.011 or less, see Workstation Installation

 

Single User Install - Select this option if you have a one user version and installing PartBase PRO on your local computer. If you wish to install PartBase on a server, refer to the Network Installation instructions above.

 

Upgrading from PartBase II - If you were previously a PartBase II user, you can import data from PartBase II to PartBase PRO. Installing PartBase PRO does not affect PartBase II in anyway. They are 2 separate programs using different files residing in different folder. Running the "Update from PartBase PRO from PartBase II" will only read the informatoin from PartBase II and will not affect the data.
